Cruising the Mother Road
Kickin’ It on 66
Scissortail Park — May 30
Celebrate 100 years of Route 66 with this all-day festival in downtown OKC. Kickin’ It on 66 mixes classic road trip nostalgia with modern fun, from a morning farmers market to an evening concert and drone show.
Spend the day browsing vendors, hitting the water in kayaks or pedal boats, or skating at the Sky Rink. Families can check out the kids market and Route 66 Travel Hub before the night wraps up with live music and a neon-lit show in the sky.
Pet note: Leashed dogs are typically welcome at Scissortail Park, but check event details before bringing your pup.
Road Rally 2026 – 100 Greatest Miles
Sapulpa to Edmond — June 6
Hit the road and explore Oklahoma’s “100 Greatest Miles” during this self-guided Route 66 rally. Participants can start anywhere along the Sapulpa-to-Edmond stretch, checking in at stops along the way while shopping, eating and sightseeing at their own pace.
There’s no race against the clock, just a chance to discover the Mother Road with a shot at prizes, including a $1,000 grand prize awarded at an after-party in Arcadia.
Pet note: Since you’re traveling in your own vehicle, this one can be a great fit for road-trip-loving dogs — just plan ahead for pet-friendly stops along the route.
